Very Short Semi- Hiatus

I will be taking a very short semi-hiatus for the next two, three weeks.

I am doing so because:

1. Life has caught up with me. Heavy school work -> less time to read and review.
However, it is "semi" because I might still ocassionally make a post.

2. I am working on Version 2.0 of this site. I am planning to upload my Internet novel: The Pursuit of Happiness onto this Blog. This means I must adjust some of the layout. I'm planning to have another two sections that can be accessed from the splash page. Therefore, I will have a section for Reviews, one section for the story, and one "personal" section. However, that is to be determined later.

On another note, I will still upload any writing I enjoy and review very inspirational books/mangas.

Manga Review: Paradise Kiss

Shoujo: Paradise Kiss
Author: Ai Yazawa
Genres: Drama, Romance
Rating: 7/10

I first encountered Paradise Kiss in my school library, among volumes of One Piece and Death Note. I wasn't attracted by the cover, but as I learnt long ago, it's impossible to tell anything by the cover. What was supposed to be thirty minutes of productive work turned into thirty minutes of me pouring over the first volume, captivated by the art and unique plot. I identified greatly with the protagonist, a girl named Yukari.

From mangafox:

Yukari wants nothing more than to make her parents happy by studying hard and getting into a good college. One afternoon, however, she is kidnapped by a group of self-styled fashionistas calling themselves "Paradise Kiss." Yukari suddenly finds herself flung into the roller-coaster life of the fashion world, guided by George, art-snob extraordinaire. In a glamorous makeover of body, mind and soul, she is turned from a hapless bookworm into her friends' own exclusive clothing model.

There are various cameos by characters from another manga of Ai Yazawa's called Gokinjo Monogatari. However, I don't believe that the manga is nearly as good as Paradise Kiss. With this one, the most intriguing aspect of the story is definitely the relationship between Yukari and George. It isn't like most other shoujos, in which the whole plot revolves around the pairing. Although their relationship is an important factor that shapes the five volumes, it is portrayed in such a way that continuously keeps the readers guessing. The art is simply amazing. Every page is full of exciting, beautiful fashions. I think it's a must read for all inspiring designers.

Just like how Paradise Kiss was an escape for the main characters of the story, this story became a small escape of mine. The manga has spawned an anime series and has fans around the world. It's been translated to at least ten different languages. I recommend checking it out whenever you have time.

Second Part

Someone asked me whether or not I knew about the second part of a manhwa.

Which manhwa??

I know that there are side stories to some of the manhwa I've talked about, such as Cat Street.
